Sanctuaries in the Snow

The Markley Hut (Aspen Mountain)

The Markley Hut was originally built in 1964. Since then it was relocated and completely renovated in 2003. It is a one-level structure with a loft that sleeps a total of 8 people. It is located in timber at 10,400' on the side of Aspen Mountain and at the foot of Green Mountain, in the Taylor Creek drainage above Ashcroft and south of Aspen.  It is in an area of known avalanche terrain with recurring avalanche cycles. See this link for more information: https://www.huts.org/The_Huts/markley.php

Three photos of the hut are below.  For many more photos of the hut, see this link: http://www.flickr.com/search/?q=markley%20hut.  If you have any information about this item that you would like to share for use on this page, please send to the author at AspenShrines@aol.com.
