The Linda B. Frantz Plaque and Bench (Snowmass)

The Linda B. Frantz plaque and bench is located on Snowmass, near the Powderhorn run. It has a beautiful view of Mt. Daly, and in the summer it can be accessed off of the Ditch Trail.

The plaque reads as follows:

"Linda B. Frantz

Wife, Mother, Friend

You gave so much to so many.

Now we give to you this place you loved

And hold you in our hearts forever."

LINDA BORMASTER FRANTZ passed away peacefully at her home on February 14, 2008, with her husband David, daughters Lisa and Michelle, brother Marshall Kottler and his family and friends Merryl Zuber, Chip and Ann Letton at her side. Linda was born in Pittsburgh, Kansas on January 10, the daughter of Ruth Kottler and Sam Bormaster. Linda attended high school in Michigan City, Indiana where she was a popular and outstanding student. She graduated from the University of Houston with a bachelor's degree in Elementary Education in 1965. She taught briefly in the Houston Independent School District before her marriage to David in 1966. During the early years of their marriage, they lived in Little Rock, Arkansas; Westport, Connecticut and Bloomfield Hills, Michigan before permanently settling in Houston in 1978. Once back in Houston, Linda was primarily involved in raising Lisa and Michelle while maintaining a wonderful home for the four of them. She loved playing tennis with her friends at the Houston Racquet Club. Perhaps her favorite place on earth was Aspen, Colorado, where she was an avid hiker in the summer and skier during the winter. She particularly loved spending several months each summer and winter at their beautiful home in Snowmass with magnificent views of the mountains. Complementing her great love for David, Lisa and Michelle was the addition of her two granddaughters over the past five years. They will be forever blessed by the too brief period in which they were nurtured by their beloved Granny. Linda was preceded in death by her parents, Ruth Kottler and Sam Bormaster and her stepfather Paul Kottler. She is survived by her loving husband of forty-one years, David Frantz, daughters Lisa and Michelle, both of New York; son-in-law Georges Krivobok; granddaughters Loulou and Beatrice Krivobok; brothers Marshall Kottler of Tulsa, Oklahoma and Jeffrey Bormaster of Palm Springs, California; sister-in-law Ellen Kottler; niece Kimberly Kottler and nephew Paul Kottler. The family would like to extend their most grateful thanks to all the friends who gave so much help and comfort during this difficult time. A celebration of Linda's life was held at 2 PM on Sunday, February 17, at the Rothko Chapel, 1409 Sul Ross, Houston, TX 77006. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Ovarian Cancer Research c/o MD Anderson, Box 4486, Houston, TX 77210."
